FAQ

Do I need a Dr. Prescription to try the NEUBIE?
Yes, the NEUBIE is FDA cleared Class II device. You will be provided a form for your Dr.’s signature.

What will I experience when I get to my appointment?
When you arrive we will go over your medical history from forms you will have completed before you arrive. Everyone is different so after your medical history review we determine together what you hope to achieve from your visit such as reduce pain, improve function, or improve performance.
You should be prepared and wear or bring loose fitting clothes like gym type shorts and tank top or sport bra.
We go through a series of Neufit system assessments to determine where your body specifically is showing functional compromises.
If you are injured, we will identify the limitations or are slowing down your body’s healing process.
If you are looking to enhance your fitness, we will use this time to identify what your body needs in order to move better and achieve results faster while reducing the risk of injury.
The improvements you experience are lasting because we address your issues neurologically. Nerves speak to muscles. The NeuFit Systems does not just treat the symptoms; it is aimed at assessing, identifying then treating the origin of pain and retraining the body to move without neurological impairments. It is very common for most people to notice significant improvement after the first session, however typically anyone can benefit from multiple sessions. Improvements tend to compound with each session.

How long will the appointment last?
Typically, your appointment can last up 90 minutes. From evaluation, to assessing, and workout, then cool down.

Is this like a TENS unit?
The Neubie is similar to a TENS unit in that it is a type of electrical stimulation, but that where the similarities stop. The Neubie has much more power; it has different effects on the body, and can do more things.
TENS units are alternating current (AC), but the NEUBIE uses a direct current (DC). Beneficial effects are described here.
The TENS unit is for masking pain, the NEUBIE is able to do so much more. It is FDA-cleared for neuromuscular re-education, maintaining or increasing range of motion, reducing spasms, increasing blood flow, preventing atrophy, relieving pain and more.
TENS unit the patient/client is passive and lying or sitting down whereas with the NEUBIE the client is actively moving.

How safe is the Neubie?
The Neubie is very safe. The NEUBIE is FDA-cleared and considered safe as long as it is used within the appropriate guidelines. For example, it is contraindicated for people who have a pacemaker or are pregnant. There are other situations in which practitioners should exercise caution. If you have any questions about your particular situation, please consult your medical professional.

Who can be helped by the NEUBIE?
It depends.
Fortunately, the Neufit System is able to help most of the people who use it. Coupled with the NEUBIE device’s ability to re-educate muscles, increase blood flow, improve range of motion, prevent atrophy, decrease spasms, and relieve or manage pain, the NEUBIE has helped many people recover from sports injuries and various traumas and surgeries.

Of course there are times when therapy and rehab strategies aren’t enough, for example, if something is completely torn, surgery may be your best direction to take. The NEUBIE can assist with post surgery healing.

The good news is that NEUBIE is non-invasive and very safe. Because of the low risks, it is often worth trying as a conservative strategy before considering more serious and invasive interventions like surgery and injections.

Can this help M.S.?
Yes, although the NEUBIE device is not indicated for Multiple Sclerosis, it has been known to improve quality of life by managing symptoms. The NEUBIE device is able to reduce spasms, increase range of motion, improve circulation, prevent atrophy, and provide neuromuscular re-education. With the NeuFit protocols, this combination has enabled some people with M.S. to improve function, become more mobile, and return to activities that had become challenging or impossible.

Can the NEUBIE help recovery from stroke, spinal cord injury, or traumatic brain injury?
It depends on each situation.
Using the NEUBIE’s capacity for neuromuscular re-education, the NeuFit System has helped some people recover from these challenges in order to restore function. In some cases that recovery has meant slight increases in balance, movement, or the ability to complete activities of daily living. In a few cases it has been as dramatic as helping people get out of wheelchairs and walk again.

There are many factors that affect a person’s recovery potential, so unfortunately NeuFit will not be helpful in all cases. If you or someone you know is dealing with one of these challenges, we encourage you to reach out to your local NeuFit Practitioner directly to discuss your situation.

IS this covered by my insurance or Medicare?
At NeuHealth the services are only self pay. For many clients who have FSA or HSA options, you will need to research your plan if this service will be covered.

Are there exercises after I leave my appointment and between appointments?
It depends.
If you are in fitness training then, yes, optimally there should be continuing exercises for you after you leave to maintain and gain improvements your felt from your session.
If you are post surgery, you should be attentive to what your Dr. has prescribed in your post surgery care.
